I began trawling our photo archives and was suprised to find very few pictures of my girls together; even less of them having fun! I pondered on that for a while and came to two conclusions:
1. They actually don't like each other very much. Maybe it's because they were born just 18 months apart and are therefore in competition for our attention 24/7. Or perhaps it's because they are Tweens and mean put-downs seem to be a speciality at the moment. Whatever the reason, they are rarely found in the same room, let alone having fun together!
2. Approximately 5 years ago our computer crashed, losing our entire on-line photograph collection! I don't know about you, but we rarely print off photos these days (probably due to laziness) so this really was a travesty of epic proportions. We do have a collection of old baby/toddler photos and I have a few digital ones, courtesy of Facebook, but that is it.
Bearing all of that in mind, I did my best and have come up with a collage of photos - moments where my girls actually appear to be enjoying one another's company. It is a lovely reminder that on occasion, we do see glimmers of a sisterly bond and there is still hope that one day, they will be friends. I do hope so.
This is my entry for Tara Cain's 'The Gallery'.
