I began trawling our photo archives and was suprised to find very few pictures of my girls together; even less of them having fun! I pondered on that for a while and came to two conclusions:
1. They actually don't like each other very much. Maybe it's because they were born just 18 months apart and are therefore in competition for our attention 24/7. Or perhaps it's because they are Tweens and mean put-downs seem to be a speciality at the moment. Whatever the reason, they are rarely found in the same room, let alone having fun together!
Bearing all of that in mind, I did my best and have come up with a collage of photos - moments where my girls actually appear to be enjoying one another's company. It is a lovely reminder that on occasion, we do see glimmers of a sisterly bond and there is still hope that one day, they will be friends. I do hope so.
This is my entry for Tara Cain's 'The Gallery'.

Ohhhh that makes me go all cold - the idea of losing all my photos. I realised last night I might not have transferred all my pics from my old laptop....I find out today if work still have my old laptop....eeek!
ReplyDeleteI've just got to work out how to back them up! I now use a system called picasa which I am pretty sure saves all your pics. I do hope you manage to get hold of your phtos, I was so upset when I frist realised they were gone :(
DeleteLove those photos! Most of my photos are of my boys together! Daughter gets photographed in her own, but the boys are always together. Would hate to lose photos. Mine are still printed off regularly (there's an unwritten blogpost there!) and also backed up on CD!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are good to print of your photos. I am too lazy and there is always something else to do!
Deletebeautiful collection of images, I try to ensure i have some printed and always saved onto discs and hard drives, but I did lose a lot also, its so upsetting xxx
ReplyDeleteSaving them onto a disc is a great idea. I will have to start doing that too :) x
DeleteFunny you saying that, only yesterday I bought myself an external hard drive so I can back up all my photos. Lovely photos of lovely girls, and not a tear in sight!
ReplyDeleteYes, I try not to take photos of them actually fighting lol! An external hard drive is a great idea - if only I was a bit more tech savvy!
DeleteLoving this pictures Suzanne, the one of you and the girls is lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteThat stinks about the pics. That happened to me about 6 years ago, thankfully it was only about 1 year of photos, but I make sure to back them up on snapfish. I have a teenager, she is always in her bedroom hiding. Must be the age.

Eeek I'd hate to lose all my photos. Will be doing a back up tonight I think. They will grow out of not liking each other soon I'm sure. My sister and I hated each other for awhile but we're the best of friends now. Lovely collage!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful collage. I imagine it won't be long until they get on really well and spend many hours shopping together x
ReplyDeleteOh the shopping has started! They're very happy in that kind of environment, believe me!
DeleteMy eldest two are tweens 18 months apart and they run hot and cold on each other too. The age doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteNo, I think their age is definitely a contributing factor - hormones have a lot to answer for lol!
DeleteThey will! Typists sister and rarely got on when they were younger, things improved as they aged and now that they are no living under one roof they are in contact daily! (Sorry that was meant to help!)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of the girls.
ReplyDeleteMy girl are normally pretty good but that will change with time I'm sure
Perhaps not, I'm sure they are not all like mine!
DeleteHow devastating to loose all your pics! Lovely happy pics that you do have though :)
ReplyDeleteLost all your photos? FALLS OVER. That's like my worst nightmare ever *goes to check on external hard drive!*
ReplyDeleteHow awful to loose your photos - especially ones of your children - must have been devasting. I didn't get on well with my brother either. Fingers crossed they begin to bond as they get older. X.
ReplyDeleteWe had the same devastating loss of photos recently, managed to recover quite a few but it was lesson learnt the hard way. Love te selection you've put together x
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily, I was devastated but had to stop dwelling on it....I guess worse things can happen :(
