I love Christmas #fact. There is so much to love - time to spend with family, enjoying old traditions and making new ones, giving and receiving presents, decorations and sparkly lights, singing carols and celebrating the birth of Jesus, an abundance of food, joy on childrens' faces as they open a gift they were not expecting!
| Just what I wanted! |
| You told me you hadn't got me a present! |
But in order to focus a little, this year I am particularly thankful for:
1) Health. Whilst glancing at my Twitter and Facebook timelines over the last few days (just a fleeting glance, you understand!) I realised how many of my friends and acquaintances, have been dealing with illness over Christmas. I am so thankful that all of us, my parents and my sister's family who joined us on Boxing Day included, were fighting fit.
2) My Husband. During the run up to Christmas, the OH pretty much has his head down and focuses on work, attempting to tie up all lose ends before finishing for the Christmas period. On occasion, I have to admit that this causes a little bit of grumpiness unrest to rise up within me (the fact that I'm doing all the work and how unappreciated I am!) Anyone else have this annual meltdown?! This year, like most, we were doing the entertaining. Despite the fact that he knew diddly squat about the gifts he would be giving to other people, my husband was an absolute God-send in the kitchen! He worked like a trojan on Christmas day, preparing a meal fit for the Queen - made his own bread sauce and everything! He also spent a lot of time tidying, cleaning up after people and serving drinks. None of this was for his own family, but for mine. He is so willing to be hospitable and for this, I am truly thankful.
3) Impending holidays. Yes, in 2 days time we will be leaving these wet and miserable climes, for the French Alps. The OH and I discovered skiing last year and loved it! We celebrated my 40th birthday in Megeve, just the 2 of us, and having promised the kids that we would take them at a later date, we have to keep that promise and I can't wait!
There is so much to be thankful for this week. Here is a little snippet of my thankful moments, in pictures.....
